E2E For Employers

Entry to Employment (E2E) Providers in Gateshead offer high quality work-based learning and support for local young people who may be finding it difficult to kick-start a career. Continued support from local employers is an important part of making E2E work.

BoyMastGateshead providers are always looking for employers who can offer placements to meet a growing demand. Gatesheaad's principal E2E Provider, Rathbone, painter.jpg have started to build up an E2E database to keep track of employers offering placements. A number of high profile local companies like John Lewis and Sage have already signed up.

Gateshead E2E Contract Manager, Karen Nichols, sees part of her role as being to support Employers and sort out any placement problems they may have. However, the database, despite being an important way of maintaining effective communication with employers, is just one part of a much broader strategy.

Karen explains, "We are looking for organisations of all sizes. Employers don't have to commit to long placements. Some offer learners taster days whereas other may be able to take someone on for a week or a month."

RiverAnother strand in Gateshead's stategy is to set up an Employer Forum. The Forum will serve to help identify employers' skills and recruitment needs as well as providing information, networking and support. Karen believes there are many benefits for employers in becoming involved in E2E. "Employers can use E2E to play a broader role in the community and access untapped areas of the labour market. And because we offer comprehensive support to our learners in partnership with Connexions, we believe our learners are ready for the working world."
